EDUKALIBRE is a project financed by the SOCRATES program of the European Union which started on the 1st of October 2003 and will last 2 years. It will involve the University Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid (coordinator), the University of Porto (Portugal), the University of Karlsruhe (Germany), the Academy of Science of the Cech Republic, the University of Leeds (UK) and the USI.
The project’s aim is the experimentation of the procedures used by the working communities who develop free and open source software for the production of didactical materials. Authoring systems will be developed through a Content Management System which will allow anybody to contribute in the creation of didactical contents; and a course management system which will allow to use the produced materials in online courses. The didactical contents and the software will be released with a free licence without any copyright (libre software and documentation).
